Kids BJJ

We have constructed a Kid's BJJ program that develops skills that children can utilize both on and off the mats. Our focus is that your child receive the best that this art has to offer in a fun and safe environment. Our program supports both students who are looking for a fun after-school activity and those looking to test themselves in competition. Join our team to see improvement in your child’s Physical Fitness, Focus, Self Confidence, Problem Solving Skills, Discipline, Balance, and Work Ethic.

Adults BJJ

Our Adult BJJ program welcomes both men and women of all fitness levels to learn the valuable sport of jiu-jitsu. All techniques learned can be easily translated into self-defense applications. Whether a hobbyist or someone looking to hone their skill set and challenge themselves in competition, we have a place on the mats for you.
Our NO GI classes adapt GI techniques and combine them with a mix of Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.

Open Mats

We offer Open Mat sessions for both kids and adults, providing the perfect opportunity to get extra sparring time, drill techniques, and refine your game in a relaxed, unstructured setting.
Use this time to sharpen your strengths, develop new skills, and experiment with techniques to expand your arsenal. Whether you're fine-tuning competition strategies or just rolling for fun, Open Mat is a great way to grow.
Visitors Welcome! Traveling or train at another gym? We invite guests to join us for Open Mat—come roll with our team and experience the True Jiujitsu Academy community!

Shane Zeringue
3rd degree Black Belt, Instructor & Owner

Awarded the rank of Black Belt in January 2014, Coach Shane began his Jiu-Jitsu journey in 1996 when there were no Jiu-Jitsu academies near his home in Clute, Tx and he had to learn on his own. Through books, instructional videos and dedication he practiced the art. He tested himself through competition and found a good deal of success. As Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grew, he found Revolution Dojo in Houston, TX and regularly traveled there to further learn and improve. Throughout the years, he trained in several martial arts however, his passion stayed with traditional BJJ. His journey came with new rewards when he began to teach in 2000. In 2009 he moved to the Austin area for the great opportunities it held for his family and continued to teach while maintaining a relationship with his instructors and mentors. In 2015 he once again united with his original team. With a focus on teaching the evolving sport of Jiu-Jitsu, he emphasizes to students the importance of the basics.

Some of his accolades include: Bronze medal at 2012 IBJJF Pan American Championships, 2017 Austin International Open, 2022 Houston International Open and Gold at 2022 Austin Winter International Open.

Coach Shane supports his team in their goals. He has grown a very successful program, but when asked his biggest success as an instructor he replies, “Being a part of the life changing experience my students have through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.”
